The Substation will be hosting an exhibition celebrating the achievements of Stompin’ Ground, one of the most important bands in Singapore and Malaysia’s hardcore music scenes.
Formed in 1988, the Singaporean band has released a demo, an EP and two full-length albums as well as shared the stage with the likes of Fugazi, The Buzzcocks and Sick Of It All.
Lion City Hardcore, the hardcore punk scene of Singapore, was pioneered and established by the band, whose release of the album We Set The Pace triggered the spawn of more local and regional hardcore bands. It is safe to say that the hardcore scene in Singapore would not be as strong as it is now if it wasn’t for these trailblazers.
The exhibition features material collected throughout the band’s performances in the period of 24 years. As a tribute to the five-piece, works by artists from various disciplines will also be featured.
One of the highlights will be the launch of 200 limited copies of We Set The Pace which will be released on 7″ vinyl by Slapbet Records. Toy figurines of the now 24-year old band by toy maker Daniel Yu, will also be showcased.
