Prohibited Projects have announced that Gangly Youth (Louisville, Kentucky) and The Maharajah Commission (KL, Malaysia) will be playing a co-headline show in Singapore on Sunday, 11 November.
Details were vague for a long time but the show has finally been confirmed as just one leg of their ‘Straits Settlements Tour 2012‘ which will see both bands playing seven shows over nine days throughout Malaysia and Singapore.
The Maharajah Commission is an avant-garde, noise rock band who have been described as “mostly deconstructionist rock and exploratory instrumental jams” while Gangly Youth, who have played with lo-fi psych band Woods and psychedelic, flute-tootin’ MMOSS, play milder– but no less fuzzy– indie pop songs.
The two bands form an unlikely partnership in releasing a split 7″ EP and it is still a mystery to us how it all came together from opposite sides of the world.
The EP will be released in conjunction with the Straits Settlements Tour and will be made available for purchase at the shows from 9 November onwards.
The four hour programme will also feature Singapore bands I/D, Etc., and more to be confirmed.
